Psalm 63:1-11
O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,...These days it seems we are constantly seeking something. Often times we can't even put our finger on that one thing that pulls us and veers us off on our own personal quests. Something eludes us, but we can't say what? Do we even know? Will we ever?
We just know that there has to be more, much more than the mundane, day to day stuff. We run to win that which has already been won for us yet we continuously fail to cross the finish line to receive our shiny prize. The symbols of accomplishment and pure fulfillment remain at large.
We want instant gratification in all we do.
Shortcuts become our normal. We are always looking for the easy way out, we want the cliff note version of life.. We want to skip the vegetables and go straight to dessert. Yes we want a quicker and more efficient way to get from A to Z. We think we're so smart sometimes. We make our plans and set our goals and arrogantly think that we alone can accomplish them. Before long our enthusiasm fades and we are back on the unending cycle of emptiness and perpetual searching.
What's missing?? Why do we often feel so lonely even when we're in a room full of people. Why do we seek things we don't even want, buy things we dont really need or eat things when were not at all hungry? We are trying to fill that enormous void; one that will not ever be filled with anything other than a sweet, rich, divine, sincere and loving relationship with Jesus Christ!
God is what's missing! He is the one and only way to pure, sweet, peaceful contentment. If you do not have that divine closeness and an unbridaled joy from knowing your personal creator, you cannot possibly ever be completely fulfilled . You will be constantly seeking and never finding. You will wander aimlessly trying to fervently fill that vastly growing void.
The endless searching for peace and fulfillment leads to so many wrong and sinful paths of destruction. Temporary crevices of random happiness can momentarily deceive us and make us think we have found what is missing. Those instant and very brief encounters of pseudo joy are very fleeting, before long we need something else, the next big moment of joy, the next bandaid to temporarily mask the wound, and so, the search continues.
Job 33:28
He redeemed my soul from going down to the pit, and I will live to enjoy the light.
When we follow our carnal desires for instant gratification we wind up in a lowly pit of calamity and destruction.
How many marriages are destroyed by adultery? The act itself is blatant temporary wandering that only can lead to mass self destruction. How many people have enormous, mounting credit card debt because at the time the overspending resulted in brief periods of bliss? There are countless other examples of people walking aimlessly down the path of darkness searching for light. The light they search for can ONLY be found in the presence of Jesus!!
The Bible is very clear on the ramifications and consequences of not following Christ and for being disobedient. We will reap what we sow either way... good or bad. The Word of God is true.. Blessings and curses are very real..
We get to choose which it will be for us.. Draw near to God and leave darkness and sin behind.. Walk in the light towards salvation, peace, joy and victory!
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Jesus!!! Call on His sweet name, draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. When you make that choice and allow Him to be the cornerstone of your life, beautiful things begin to happen. He is the light of the world. He is the torch that no man can extinguish. His path is far brighter than any self made path ever could be. On God's path there is only light!
But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
The Bible says to put our blinders on and not to look to the left or to the right but only straight toward Him! The path to salvation is a well lit path. Walking in the light of God's sweet presence can change everything, absolutely everything.
We begin to see all of our needs being met when we choose God as the one way to joy unspeakable and unsurpassed peace. Our fears, worries, and anxieties calmly fade into the distant past .God's perfect love casts out all fear. The endless longing and searching we once had is irrevocably replaced with an intense desire to draw closer and closer to God. The thirst that was once insatiable is supernaturally and blissfully quenched. We feel a joy, happiness and an abundant peace that can only come from God. His loving light surrounds us and bathes us in absolute restoration!
God's pure light will protect you like a shield. The more closely you follow Him the brighter your light becomes. We are the light of the world. As we begin our journey of change, others around us will notice changes that could only be the work of almighty God. The changes become so evident to those around us and they will begin to see your light shining through your circumstances. You then will become a living testimony and perfect example of how walking in God's pure light can change everything from glory to glory. Let God's amazing grace and pure radiant light change your life today. It's yours for the asking!! Make the commitment to give your life to Christ today....
Always.. Always... Walk in the light!!!
2 Samuel 22:29
29 You are my lamp, O LORD; the LORD turns my darkness into light.
Heavenly Father, we long to follow your path and bask in your light as you remove the darkness from us. Thank you for filling us with your grace and mercy as we draw closer to you today. In Jesus name we pray..
Amen
